The IAS Hub, which powers all IAS® services, is a common operating platform that tracks all of the container events that occur when equipment travels along the transport chain. The IAS Hub collects event data from ocean carriers, depots, railroads, terminals, and other trading partners via secure Internet file transfer, traditional EDI, or SMTP. A sophisticated business rules engine processes and organizes the event data into user-friendly lists and reports according to each customer's requirements.
Depending on each customer's system preferences, information from the IAS Hub is delivered through a web interface, or through automated integration and file transfer. The IAS Hub supports international industry-standard codes—including UN/EDIFACT and ISO—for all equipment information, from the unit's location and equipment type to its status. Where standard code lists do not exist, IAS has created standards for general use. Equipment can be tracked simply and conveniently by container number, or by booking/bill-of-lading reference.
The IAS Hub business rules engine lets ocean carriers set preferences that determine how, when, and among whom data is collected, processed, and distributed. For example, automatic event notifications allow carriers to more easily monitor container location and status. But they may also be sent to select shippers and consignees, to eliminate routine inquiries and enhance customer service.
The IAS Hub offers a secure, reliable, and extensible system infrastructure that is based on a service oriented architecture using best-of-breed technologies. All data is hosted, maintained, and operated by a tier-1 hosting service provider and is housed in a state-of-the-art, secure data center.
